Field Good Life's 2025 Recap

When I hit record on the first episode of the Field Good Life podcast, I didn’t know where it would go. I just knew I wanted to have real conversations with real people in agriculture, the kind you don’t hear enough. Not just about yields and weather, but about the grit and grace it takes to keep going in this business.

I hoped to tell the story of the American farmer and those who support agriculture in ways that most people do not see or have any idea about. From seed to table is a long journey, and one that most American consumers cannot understand.

And now? We’ve wrapped up year one. 22 episodes, 5,000+ downloads, and more stories than I can count. I hope I touched a few new people and opened their perspective on how important keeping food grown in America should remain a viable occupation.

To every guest who sat behind a mic, and every listener who tuned in while cutting rice, hauling soybeans, or folding laundry: thank you. You made this possible. Now you can help by spreading the word about my work here on Field Good Life. Share your favorite podcast with a friend!

The top five most-listened episodes covered it all: mental health, sustainability, co-op life, and the wisdom passed down from folks who’ve weathered more than a few tough seasons. There were laughs, hard truths, and more than a few "ah-ha" moments for myself and my listeners.

We also covered big industry news, like the recent Rice Outlook Conference and the new farmer aid package. There’s real hope in those headlines, but also real questions. Payment limits are still a sticking point. Not every farmer will benefit, and that matters. We’ve got to keep pushing for policies that reflect the complexity of what it means to farm today.

If you feel a tug to share your story with me, reach out. I had a friend recently share with me that she hoped to continue to cultivate connections with others in agriculture to build meaningful relationships for the future. That rings true for me as well.

Farewell (and maybe a little good riddance) to 2025! Looking ahead to 2026, I hope to bring you more voices from the field. More lived experience. More honesty. Fewer buzzwords.

And maybe a little more time with my family, too.

Let’s keep telling the story.
